CONTEMPORARY

- STUDENTS CAN GET STARTED AT ANY STAGE THROUGH OUT TERM -

Contemporary dance allows expression and freedom of movement and is characterized by its versatility. This class will help to loosen the muscles and allow the body to move freely and feel the choreography.

Contemporary can be danced to almost any style of music, or united with other dance forms to create new styles of movement.

Contemporary seeks to work with the natural alignment of the body, and is therefore safe and accessible for beginners.

At the same time, the ease of movement promoted by contemporary dance technique allows experienced dancers to push new boundaries of body movement.

Each class begins with a warm-up in the center to limber up muscles and increase range of movement.

The class then moves on with tendus (from ballet ) which warms-up the feet, then on to developes (from ballet) which get the legs moving using every muscle in the legs along with the core.

The class continues to the corner to do a few progressions - various combinations to help achieve co ordination and allow you to move in a way to let yourself go.

Each class will finish with choreography according to the class level.
